That would have set up a very tense finale. Estupinan appears to have overcooked his cross, but it's actually heading in to the top right corner. Martinez does well to back pedal and tip it away from goal, Adingra crosses it back into the middle and Ayari blazes over!

Watkins is late challenging for the ball and goes through van Hecke in the Albion box.

Fifth and final change for Albion. Matt O'Riley replaces Brajan Gruda.

Rogers finds Asensio in the middle of the box and the Spaniard fires in. Watkins looks as if he's dragged back Wieffer in the box just before Asensio finds the net. VAR to check. They stick with the on-field decision.

A fourth change for Albion as Carlos Baleba replaces Diego Gomez.

Albion make a triple change. Eiran Cashin is on for his Premier League debut, with him, Danny Welbeck and Mats Wieffer replacing Jack Hinshelwood, Danny Welbeck and Lewis Dunk.

The forward meets Hinshelwood's cross but doesn't get any power on the header, which makes it an easy gather for Martinez. The Brazilian then seems to have a problem with his arm or hand and needs treatment.

Adingra fires in at the back post after Mitoma's shot is saved, but VAR say Mitoma brings the ball down in the build up on his arm. The ball appears to hit his sleeve which would mean it's not handball, but after watching a number of replays, Attwell rules the goal out.

Rashford lifts the ball over Verbruggen and finds the back of the net.

Kamara and Cash think they've done enough to make Mitoma give up on attacking down the left, but instead he skips away from both and crosses in low, but it's cleared away.

Back underway.

Goalless after 45 minutes. An entertaining half with chances for both teams.

That's a terrific free-kick from the Swede, having won the free-kick after being fouled by Kamara. From 22-yards out he curls it around the wall and onto the post, but it bounces back into the box and Villa get it away! It hits Ramsey's arm and Albion appeal, but again Attwell doesn't give it. Watching it back, Albion have a case as it hits Ramsey's arm, which is down by his side.

There's a long VAR check as Jacob Ramsey goes down under a challenge from Jack Hinshelwood in the box. Stuart Attwell isn't interested but VAR takes a long look as Jack does catch the ankle of Ramsey, but the Albion man's calf touches the ball first. VAR don't overrule and we play on.

Dunk plays an unbelievable ball over the top of the Arsenal defence with Cash seemingly completely unaware of Mitoma stealing in behind him. He brings it down and there's a bit of a coming together between Cash and Kaoru with Albion appealing for a penalty, but the referee gives a goal-kick. A fair decision.

Mitoma, Gruda and Pedro combine brilliantly on the left and the former is away down the left. He finds Adingra on the edge of the box who lets fly aiming for the top left corner, but it's a matter of inches wide!

Jack goes into the book for pulling back on the shirt of McGinn.

Gomez flicks the ball into the path of Mitoma on the left, the Japan international cuts in and looks to curl it past Martinez, but the keeper sees it all the way into his gloves.

That's another great chance for Villa and another wasted. Rashford gets into the box, he dribbles away from van Hecke, but doesn't wrap his foot around his shot properly and sends it wide to the right of goal.

Digne swings in from the left - he looks offside in the build up - McGinn meets it in the middle but nods wide. He should be hitting the target as he's only six yards out.

Konsa's header bounces into the chest of Verbruggen and the keeper dives on the loose ball with Rashford ready to pounce.
