A BRILLIANT GOAL

Mitoma makes the run through the middle and Yankuba finds him, with Mitoma tapping in from close. A superb goal, with the Japan international at the very heart of it.

Kick-off

First Half begins.

HERE COME THE TEAMS

Lewis Dunk leads out the Albion team for our opening game of the season.

Fabian's pre-match thoughts

"I'm really excited. We have worked hard but pre-season is pre-season and I'm looking forward to seeing the team on the pitch." On his team selection, "Brighton's way is to search for exciting young players with a lot of potential but we also have great leaders on the pitch like Lewis Dunk, James Milner and JP (van Hecke) and hopefully the balance works today. Experiencing Goodison, "I have never been to Everton before but I'm told the atmosphere will be loud and I expect a lot of intensity and some ruthless duels on the pitch. It will be a great challenge for us and for me as a coach."

JAMES MILNER ON OUR OPENING DAY TEST AT GOODISON PARK

James Milner is anticipating a tough afternoon as the Toffees kick-off their final season at Goodison Park. "Obviously the first game of the season will be lively," Milner said. "I'm sure it'll be emotional for the club as well - the last season at the ground, the last first day of the season there, with all it's history. It'll be a big occasion for them. "Hopefully we can spoil it, but it's a great test for us early on and one that we'll have to stand up to physically and mentally because it's a challenging place to go. But I think we're ready for it. Hopefully we can quieten that home crowd down early." And is he expecting a warm reception as a former Liverpool player? "I'm sure I'll be welcomed with open arms!"

Lineups announced

THE ALBION TEAM: Steele, Dunk, Milner, Joao Pedro, Minteh, Welbeck, Mitoma, Wieffer, van Hecke, Veltman, Hinshelwood. On the bench: Rushworth, Webster, Gilmour, Sarmiento, Barco, Baleba, Adingra, Ayari, O'Mahony.

Lineups announced

THE EVERTON TEAM: Pickford, Young, Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko, Gana, Iroegbunam, Harrison, McNiel. Doucoure, Calvert-Lewin. On the bench: Virginia, Holgate, Ndiaye, Beto, O'Brien, Maupay, Lindstrom, Metcalfe, Armstrong.

HURZELER READY FOR EVERTON

Fabian Hurzeler has been pleased with his team's performances in pre-season, but knows that our opening game against the Toffees will be a big step up. "So, on Saturday we have the first challenge, we see how we are as individual players and as a group," the German said. "And then it's about adapting fast to the challenges of the Premier League. "We had great experiences, great memories in pre-season, but now it's about also making this process during the season. So, never stop with getting to know each other, never stop with trying to build relationships and connections on the pitch, never stop trying to improve individually. "So, this will be a process. And every week we get a challenge and control how far we are as a team. That's why I am always a big fan of going from game to game, the next step. I don't like two steps, because it's about focusing on the next step and trying to improve every day."

WELCOME TO THE MATCH CENTRE

Good afternoon and welcome to the match centre for today's game against Everton. The match marks Fabian Hurzeler's first competitive game in charge of the Albion, having joined us earlier in the summer following Roberto De Zerbi's departure.
