Goalkeeper Jason Steele arrived at Brighton and Hove Albion in June 2018 after his contract ended with Sunderland, signing a three-year deal.

He made 15 Championship appearances for the Wearside club in 2017/18 and played almost 300 games across spells at Middlesbrough, Northampton Town and Blackburn Rovers. The shot-stopper has represented England at youth team up to the under-21s, where he played seven times.

Steele made his Albion debut in an Emirates FA Cup third round tie away at AFC Bournemouth. He signed a new contract in January 2021, that runs until the end of the 2022/23 campaign. He then extended his deal in January 2023 through to June 2025. Following Robert Sanchez's straight red card against Newcastle in November 2021 and subsequent one-match suspension, Steele made his Premier League debut in a 2-0 defeat at Villa Park.

Jason had his first run of Premier League games in the second half of the 2022/23 season, starting in our 4-0 win against West Ham at the beginning of April, going onto make 15 top-flight appearances as we secured our best ever top-tier finish of sixth, as well as qualifying for European competition for the first time.

The goalkeeper made 23 appearances in all competitions during the 2023/24 season, notably starting in our debut match in the Europa League against AEK Athens.
